JPK 1080 CRUISING INTERIOR

I have already talked on the blog about this extraordinary boat and its very close competitor, the Sunfast 3600. The two are very fast and very close in what regards performance. The JPK 10.80 won the first leg of the Transquadra but the difference was so minimal that either boat could have won. They are also both very good at crewed regattas and again very close, but the JPK 10.80 is incomparably better in what regards a cruising interior and cruising potential.
Looking at this photo we can see that the JPK 1080 offers a nice and comfortable interior, not properly what we would expect on a racer and one that will allow for family cruising out of the racing time. A true cruiser-racer while the Sunfast 3600 has the minimal interiors of a racer. This make the JPK a more versatile boat...and those two openings that allow a forward view from the interior, besides being useful give it a very distinctive look, a cute one.... I like it a lot ;-)

  1. Checked it out in La Rochelle with all the other similar like Pogo, Malango, Mojito, Django etc. Even if we are totally focused on bright, modern, durable interiors all these are frankly to plain. My son was with me for the first time and as soon as he stepped into the RM 1060 the choise was clear. They really have nailed a nice middle way design language and as long as you cruise and with gear you will not plane anyway so...

  2. Yes, you and my wife LOL. She also likes the interior of the RM, particularly the 1260. I agree the RM has a better interior but the RM has little to do with the JPK 1080, that is a much faster boat and will used probably more for racing than for cruising. It is regarding the type of boat that the interior of the JPK 1080 is remarkably good. Regarding JPK and a better interior you should look towards the 38, that one is designed for cruising.

  3. Yes, we also checked out the JPK 1080 and it really ticked all boxes on paper and pictures but not in reality. I do not really know why but it did not trigger a "whou" and still felt too plain or perhaps cheaply built and designed.

  4. JPK 1080s are winning a lot of races. I am not looking for a racing boat. But I like a sailboat and not a floating cabin. I am leaning more to Pogo. I need a fast sailboat that can be sailed easily by two and single handed at times. I cruise light. The RM does not appeal to me.
