I would like to share this with all of you. We have passed 1 million and a half hits, thanks to you all. The previous thread on sailnet (2010- 2014) was not far from that.
On this blog (2014-2018) the beginning was slow but it has been growing steadily each year, even if it is a seasonal blog that closes for the sailing season, 5 months in a year. The audience now is of about 30 000 views a month.
I will continue till I stop having fun doing it, even if in what regards earning some money with it, it has been a disillusion. This kind of automatic adds only pay when people open them and unfortunately not many do that. The system is conceived for social blogs that have millions of views a day, not for this type of blog.
To all of you, thanks for the company on this journey on boat design and sailing fun and if I may ask something, try to participate more doing comments. It is a way of not feeling lonely on this side of the net and feeling that you are enjoying the blog.

It has been a real education and pleasure going through your index of sailboats and critiques. They are, as you point out, very interesting. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!! And yes, we enjoy the blog very much, but we hate that you go sailing so long. For the next years you must ask and we will decide how many weeks you will be authorized to go sailing. :D
ReplyDeleteHello Paulo , love your site , hesitant to post as it is not instantly published without your input . Sort of kills the spontaneity of it . Nevertheless, Like your point of view and a link to your site is residing on my chrome bar permanently .
ReplyDeleteHi Paulo, thank you for the blog my favourite sailing read. It is such a pleasure to have proper commentary on the yachts you review rather than the soft product placement of the sailing magazines. The blend of technical analysis with commentary in the aesthetics is also refreshing. I look forward to your next trip to Dusseldorf. Keep it up for a long time. Nick
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and many thanks, Paulo.
ReplyDeleteI never miss any of your entries and when you are off for the sailing season I miss them.
I'm now without a boat, but looking around for an 8 to 10 m boat for single handed sailing in a few years. Always learning a lot from your reading.
Regards from Cambrils, Catalonia.
Jaume.
Congrats, Paolo! Yours is by far my favorite sailing blog/site! Your straightforward writing style combined with your sailing and naval architecture knowledge is a fantastic combination. I always look forward to your posts and thanks again for sharing your summer sailing adventures via Facebook!
ReplyDeleteBest Regards from a landlocked armchair sailor in the US,
Brent S.
Thank you all for the nice words. Believe me it is important regarding the will to continue doing this since it takes a lot of my time without practically no other reward than knowing that you like it.
ReplyDeleteTo all of you that hesitate to post comments please don't do so. I don't censure comments but the success of the blog means also that I have a high number of spam comments, the kind that say this is the best blog in the world and then post a link to boat mattresses or some other kind of marine stuff. That's why I want to view them first not to allow that kind of stuff.
I am going to be for about a week at Dusseldorf, for the boat show and the beer, if you want to join me for a beer please send me a message to the email pernao.paulo@gmail.com but please do that so with a day notice because I only look at them at night in the apartment.
Hello Paulo, congratulations for these results. I love your blog and I think it is one of the few places where you can have information, analysis and comparisons of current sailboats, in an impartial way.
ReplyDeleteYour opinions and comparisons were very useful for me when a year ago I changed my previous sailboat for an Azuree 41 with which I am delighted.
Keep it up, it is a very useful blog and there are not many like it.
Thanks and continue with him.
Alex
Hi Alex, nice to hear about you and to see that you are happy with the Azuree.
DeleteIt is nice to know that i have helped people to choose the right boat. Where do you have the boat?
I had dinner, some weeks ago, with an american couple that I had helped into choosing the right boat, that for them was a Cigale 16. I have been invited to sail with them and to test the new boat that was put on the water some days ago.
Have you seen that there is a follower of this blog undecided between buying an Azuree 41 and a Maxi 1200? Look at the Azuree 41 post and the Maxi 1200 post and
if you have the time reply to the relevant comments (from that follower) adding information about your boat. Maybe you too can help a fellow sailor to chose the right boat.
Hello Paulo, Ia have the boat in Palma de Mallorca-Spain
DeleteI didnt seen the comment in the Maxi 1200 post.
I have written a short review of my experience with the Azuree 41.
Alex
This would be very interesting, to read the impressions of the owners!
DeleteAlex, please help us following the Paulo's suggestion.
For a long time I was the only one Chilean following your work, sometimes I copied your post on my Facebook where some others Chilean sailors can discover your blog. Now I see that I'm not more the only one Chilean here. I'm happy about!
Si vienes me avisas!
ReplyDeleteY ya que estamos, he visitado gran parte de Europa, pero jamás ni España ni Portugal, tengo pendiente la península.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this outstanding achievement, Paulo. As you know, I've been following Interesting Sailboats since the Sailnet forum days, having read every single page from beginning to end. I believe I was among the very first to follow you to this new blog platform, and I've learned a tremendous amount about boat design and been introduced to so many beautiful and wonderful boats (the Italia and RM boats come immediately to mind). I sincerely hope you continue this labor of love that brings so many of us much pleasure - almost as much as your cruising posts on FB, which I also follow religiously. Warm regards, Guy (Team Pear Shaped Racing).
ReplyDeleteHi Guy,
ReplyDeleteYour words mean a lot mainly because you are great sailor. It is nice to know that my knowledge in boat design and this blog may be of interest even for very good sailors that sailed more boats than I ever will.
Congratulations for all the victories on the last years and all the best for the next races.
