CORONA VIRUS AND 20002020

Thanks to you all the blog has registered 2 000 000 hits, an average of 883 hits a day in the last year and a half.

Unfortunately this automatic type of publicity I use on the blog only pays some cents when you click and open ads and unfortunately not many do that. Can I ask you guys to open the ads, at least the ones that you are mildly interested in?

With about one euro and a half a day I don’t have much incentive to post more frequently, especially now. If it was not this Covid 19 shit the blog would already have been closed for the sailing season, and I would be sailing and that’s a lot better than writing, even if about sailboats. LOL

Edit: Some of you have reached me saying that they could not see any adds on the blog. That's because most use ad blockers. If you wanna help me with that disable the ad blocker for my site (the ad blocker has an option to do that). The ads google use are not aggressive pop-ups so it will not make the blog harder to read.

  1. Congratulations on the milestone! This is my favorite blog. I enjoy it being just about the boats. Then I can follow your cruising on facebook.

  3. ...so with one click by myself you got a shot in the arm today. Hope I will have enough discipline to do that also in the future. In any case congrat for your great sailing blog and keep going....!

  4. Hi Paulo-
Your blog is my favorite source of sailing information on the web!

Have you thought about reaching out to a few industry vendors (West Marine, etc.) and offering them a fixed monthly sponsorship for some promotion links, banners on your blog? My guess is you have a very dedicated, qualified, targeted audience for marine-related products and services.

    1. Hi Brent,

      Thanks for the nice words.

For doing that I would need a different type of blog without the advantages the ones from Google give.

I would have to pay, have smaller photos and more limited in number and most of all I would lose the freedom to do what I want to do and I would be tied to the blog without being able to take 6 months out for sailing.

I don't want any of those things. I do it because I like to do it, sure some money for the trouble and expenses would be nice, but I don't want or desire much more than that.

  5. I'm sure you have considered this already but perhaps a freemium model where some of your customers pay a few euro a month get access to new content first. A good website that does this well is https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ . I am a patreon and pay 5 euro per month to get early access to content as well as a few other extras (Q&A, additional pictures, etc). I do this to show my support for the author who writes knowledgeable about a topic I am interested in. It is no obligation and does not detract from the free content for everyone else.

    1. Thanks for the idea but I will maintain the blog free of charge and if one wants to be sure to get the information first the only thing he has to do is to become a follower.

I believe the counseling service for buying a yacht is really the best way to have some revenue and it will provide a service that will end up by costing nothing to the ones that take it, and can even turn out on a better price.

I am having a very good feedback regarding that. I did not have noticed that I knew so many people on the boat business, people that are willing to offer me good deals for clients.
